Bridgeton Pediatrician Sexual Abuse Lawsuits | Lawyers for Vicitms of Dr. Craig A. Speiegel

Bridgeton Childhood Sexual Abuse Lawsuits

OnderLaw is currently investigating claims of sexual abuse by Dr. Craig Spiegel, who the Department of Justice indicted March 13, 2024. Dr. Spiegel operated a pediatric practice in Bridgeton, Missouri for the last 10 years, during which time he has been accused of providing prescriptions of highly addictive drugs, such as amphetamines and opioids, in exchange for sexual acts. In many cases, Dr. Spiegel may have coerced and manipulated his victims; the allegations against him state that he may have met them when they were minors as pediatric patients.

Investigators from the DEA, FBI, Health & Human Services Office of the Inspector General and the Bridgeton Police Department have accused Dr. Spiegel of writing at least 1,200 prescriptions totaling more than 73,000 pills that were medically unnecessary. U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming stated “The conduct alleged in the indictment represents an exploitation of patients who were vulnerable because they had been treated by Dr. Spiegel since they were girls, because they were struggling with addiction, or both, to satisfy a sexual desire. It is illegal and unethical for a doctor to prescribe controlled substances as payment for sexual favors or for cash, or to provide drugs to someone who is suspected of diverting or abusing those drugs.”

Perpetrators frequently take advantage of a foundation of trust and rely on a victim's fear. Perpetrators may threaten their victims or convince them that no one would believe their accusation. Fearing retaliation or punishment, or blaming themselves for the abuse, most victims do not disclose sexual abuse.
